Alexandria Still Burns: Librarians & the Fight for Knowledge by Amelia G on Blue Blood

Alexandria Still Burns: Librarians & the Fight for Knowledge

I like Kyle Cassidy‘s work because he has a good eye for subculture. There is a journalistic aspect to his work, combined with an aesthetically pleasing approach. Kyle Cassidy delves into the social anthropology of cultural aspects which go unexplored by most. I think I first came across…( Read more )

Game of Thrones S4 E40: The Children, or Happy Father’s Day by Will Judy on Blue Blood

Game of Thrones S4 E40: The Children, or Happy Father’s Day

Our finale episode of Game of Thrones opens with Jon Snow tramping out into the enemy’s camp for a parlay. It’s a dour reunion, fermented mare’s milk cocktails notwithstanding, and negotiations are going pretty badly when Stannis and his newly bought army sluice into the woods and start shred…( Read more )

June Show at La Luz De Jesus Art Gallery by Amelia G on Blue Blood

June Show at La Luz De Jesus Art Gallery

After a surreal day of attending first the Bay Pay Forum on the future of banking and digital currencies, following by a private Wells Fargo event at the Beverly Wilshire, I felt like I could finally exhale and relax when Forrest Black and I arrived at the gallery opening for the art showing at…( Read more )

What do you like besides Rik Mayall & The Young Ones? by Amelia G on Blue Blood

What do you like besides Rik Mayall & The Young Ones?

I loved The Young Ones. I actually thought they were an MTV creation and the existence of that show was one of the many reasons MTV was awesome. I rarely saw my people represented in film and, despite its over-the-top comedy, The Young Ones reflected my real life experience far more than most…( Read more )

Game of Thrones S4 E39: The Watchers on the Wall, or Everything Sucks/Ends

Can we all agree that George R. R. Martin is bipolar, with a strong emphasis on the depressive side? Most extremely creative people are bipolar. Whether their medium is science, stories, visual arts, or being a really accomplished warlord like Mance, I believe this applies. I don’t meant…( Read more )

Google Glass + Heavy Firearms + iPad = Live Action Halo

So an AR series firearm, a pair of Google Glass, and an iPad walk into a bar . . . Fortunately for them, Texas-based Tracking Point has developed a real-time ballistics algorithm which goes all Terminator for you and let’s you shoot successfully at your target. Even if you suck at target…( Read more )

Coffee Versus Pot

If you ingest caffeine and THC at the same time, does this mean the race is on?
As the slow march towards the end of marijuana prohibition continues, Washington state’s Mirth Productions just announced it is releasing a series of fruit-flavored and cannabis-infused coffees. The new chill…( Read more )

Game of Thrones S4 E38: The Mountain and the Viper, or You’re Fighting THAT?

Our latest episode of Game of Thrones opens in a dark, muddy shithole village, and leads us to the filthy whorehovel where Gilly does the washing up. And gets drunkenly abused for being a Wildling. Why is everyone so mean about Wildlings?
Well, the raiding and slaughtering is kind of…( Read more )

Puppy Cam Oops!

Sometimes I wish there were a site where I could watch live happy cute animals frolic in a variety of cam rooms. If nobody gets it together to rip this idea off, I may be forced to do it myself. I’d like to tip for awesome tail wagging, above and beyond the expected furry delight. The screen shot below might make you think this is a reality, but it actually humorously came from this site (which is totally not something you should click in the office, if you know what I mean, unless you work with me.) The cams on this site are free to watch and it is free to sign up for an account, but I’m pretty sure it does not actually showcase dog-fucking (sorry, Will), so I’m pretty sure it is merely hilarious (and not scandalous) that a dog made it to the front page.

Amelia G, MBA - in the Wall Street Journal

How sweet! My grad school sent me a framed Wall Street Journal with the announcement of my graduation and my classmates’ in it. So, in case anyone was wondering why I just started leaving the house again, yeah, I just graduated from an intense program. Armed with an MBA from a top 10 business school, there is really no excuse now for delaying plans for world domination :-)

Game of Thrones S4 E37: Mockingbird, or Brothers and Sisters Will Raise a Few Blisters by Will Judy

Game of Thrones S4 E37: Mockingbird, or Brothers and Sisters Will Raise a Few Blisters

Our new episode of Game of Thrones begins with Jaime and Tyrion recapping the last scene of the last ep. They agree that things could have gone better, but at least they screwed Tywin over. Tyrion’s leaning towards self pity, and the jokes are getting meaner and less funny. At least he’s aware of…( Read more )

Game of Thrones S4 E36: The Laws of Gods and Men, or A Sidepiece Will Wreck Your Life

Our new episode of Game of Thrones begins with Stannis having a meeting with a bank manager. I don’t know that I’ve ever felt sorry for him before.
The director of semi-royal accounts is a smug, icy twat, played to perfection by Mycroft Holmes. He toys with Stannis and shuts him down hard, and i…( Read more )

Game of Thrones S4 E35: First of His name, or NITB Rising

Our latest episode of Game of Thrones begins with the well-received coronation of King Tommen “Baratheon” I, who by virtue of not being a psychopath or a boozing whoremaster is the best king to show up for the job in 50 years. If I was a courtier witnessing these events, my next stop would be the…( Read more )
