Headache
This endless headache is starting to make me really grouchy. I've got some really tough stuff to deal with with work right now and a throbbing head is not improving my ability to address them. The headache can't be dehydration because I drink water all freaking day all the time. Probably a lot more than is normal.
Going to take a break to get sushi with a friend this evening and that should help.
Forrest saw my last post and told me what he got me for my birthday. He got me a couch! Forrest is awesome. I don't know what I'm going to do about the space issue, but whatever.
I wish my head would stop hurting.

Work Always Comes First
I really want to buy a sofa and a workout thingie and a couple of dining room chairs. I have more than enough money for a sofa and a workout thingie and a couple of dining room chairs. If I get those things, however, they will be in the way when I do certain types of photo shoots. So I do without them.
Anybody know a source for compact stair masters and weightlifting machines? How about lightweight foldable sofas?
I've had a headache at least part of every day for the last week. I feel like getting a coffee because it would relieve some of the headache now, but I think it would make it worse in the long run. So I'm going to try taking a really hot bath instead of getting the coffee I want.
I live in a neighborhood where I am walking distance from a good iced latte from 5am to 2am most days of the week and a short drive 4am to 2am most days of the week. And I am really not taking full advantage of this.

The Most Excellent Rev. Tassy Pink
This is from the most recent update to Blue Blood's Barely Evil and Pinkgasm. We shot this in a real place where we had to worry about getting busted being naughty. I love stuff like this.

Sexy Fandom & Other Photo News
Oh yeah, couple cool news things:
Forrest Black and I shot the image for the new flyer for Sexy Fandom with Molly Case

Also shot the cover of the new On Our Backs and the cover of the new Spread, plus some stuff for Girlfriends and Marquis and some other stuff I'm not thinking of right now. We are all over the newsstand right now. I love print and I especially love magazines.

Stuff
Okay, I haven't been updating this thing much lately. Been crazy busy and kind of jacked up my ankle again to boot. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'm going to post some picture updates today and try to post more words later. Got a magazine deadline I need to make which I am procrastinating, even as I post this...

This shot is a sample from the most recent update to Blue Blood's Gothic Sluts. This is from one of the shoots Forrest and I did on our most recent East Coast trip. I miss some things about the East Coast more than I knew. And I knew I missed some stuff as it was beforehand. Good friends who actually know me, people who read, beautiful wedding, higher education.

Comic Con & Email
Okay, I spent this weekend mostly dealing with computer headaches.
I missed three parties and a gallery show. I had to cancel dinner with friends. I didn't get my laundry done.
I did get the computer problems fixed. I did get a great haircut. I did get a combo housesitter and computer babysitter.
I am shooting every day for the next week. I am going to Comic Con. I am leaving momentarily.
If I am shooting you, you have my cell number. If you emailed, odds are good I didn't get it with the computer problems I've been dealing with. Usually, I am a digital girl, but please phone in this instance.
If you emailed me something which can wait a couple days, odds are good I didn't get it and it would be great if you could please email me again on Monday or Tuesday.

Whoo-hoo! I'm going to have fun at Comic Con! (Assuming I can get it together to get my laundry done.)

Here is what I wrote about this set on Blue Blood's Gothic Sluts "I really like how you can feel Nina's sexuality in this set, but it is muted, like she is teetering on the cusp and could become submissive or dominant in the blink of an eye. Which is really pretty representative of what she is like in real life."
Look out!

There is an entertaining anecdote that goes with this most recent update to Blue Blood's Barely Evil, but I'm too tired to retell it. Forrest Black posted a bit about it here

Short version of day's events is: Alex rules.

I have been in and out of town so much lately, it is sort of a whirlwind. Totally exhausted from shooting. It was worth it. I really need to get back to my physical therapist, but I need to get another x-ray first. Soon soon. Sort of want to detail my adventures, but feeling more visual than verbal at the moment. Today's update to Blue Blood's Gothic Sluts shot by yours truly and Forrest Black:

Scar is Awesome!
There is a new site called Scar13.com which just went live which I'm really pleased to have worked on. It is a really artistically satisfying collaborative effort by Scar, a bunch of the Blue Blood usual suspects, and a whole bunch of fun guest photogs. There are a slew of sample shots from the members area at http://www.blueblood.net/boards/showthread.php?t=3825 I'd love to hear feedback on what people think of the tour.

The West Wing
I've been watching the early seasons of the West Wing on DVD lately and really enjoying them. I talked to my mom for a long time this weekend and I asked her how accurate the show is in portraying what working in the West Wing is like. She told me that the show had been recommended to her by friends and she and my father had started to watch it, but my dad didn't like the show, so they stopped. She says that means she can't say how accurate it is. I think it probably means it must be pretty accurate.
Absent-Minded
I just realized that I totally left the house with my pants on inside-out. It was just to get coffee, but still . . . I guess I really needed that coffee. LOL I am apparently prepping for an alternative career as an absent-minded professor. I've forsaken every vice but coffee and really I need to have my pants on right way out.
Actually, the other day a few of us were playing the what-if-you-didn't-have-to-work game and I realized that one thing I would do is spend more time in academia. I'd do mostly what I do anyway, which is a cool realization, but I'd concentrate more on the creative side of things which I love best and I'd spend more time in the academic world studying and teaching. Ah well, what if, what if . . .
I've had an unusual string of dinners with people lately whose primary focus is thinking and it has been really stirring the mental juices in a good way.

Much Beauty in Springtime
Here is a shot from a set Forrest Black just posted to Blue Blood's Barely Evil. She has the sun on her face and it sort of welcoming spring I think. This was a really fun and relaxed shoot.

Cookie Monster was the first bad boy I ever loved
Cookie Monster was the first bad boy I ever loved. I adored his unfettered capacity for pleasure. He was deeply into consuming cookies and he didn’t care who knew it. If there were no cookies available, he would eat a cardboard circle if he had to. He would eat that cardboard circle with no shame. He was so ready for anything, he would eat the moon, if he could get to it. The scope of his desire was infinite and proud. He could see no 12 steps coming. He was Cookie Monster and he was prepared to shout his joyous desire aloud. If you baked him a flat crisp cake of sweetened dough, he would let you know how much he enjoyed it. You wouldn’t have to wonder whether he was experiencing pleasure because he would let you know about it and he didn’t care who was watching. Cookie was the kind of Monster where you had to understand he might take just as much joy from someone else’s baking. He wanted cookies and he wanted them from everyone he met. But, if you didn’t require monogamy of him . . .

Beautiful Day
Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining. Had fun doing a quick shoot earlier. Afterwards we drove past a family which was pulled to the side of the road with a gas can. Their car had run out of gas right at the gas station but had not quite made it inside and they didn't have money for gas. I almost never give to panhandlers. But it is a pretty day in Los Angeles to take a walk or hang out with friends or drive around with A/C and good company and probably a kind of hot sticky day to be stuck on the side of the road with no A/C. The family stuck by the roadside didn't come across like scammers, just people who were having a bad day and could use a hand getting home. So I had Forrest pull over and I gave them money to gas up. Just feeling really karmically good and like it felt right doing it. A little thank you note from me to the world.
